Privacy Policy
Last updated September 14, 2026
DeskFriend is a Chrome extension that reminds you to take short movement and breathing breaks. This policy covers the extension itself.
The short version
DeskFriend collects nothing. There's no account, no analytics, no tracking, and no server — because there isn't one. Everything the extension knows about you (your settings, your streak, how many stretches you've done) stays on your own device.
What data is stored, and where
DeskFriend saves the following to your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local), which never leaves your device and is never transmitted anywhere:
- Your settings — reminder interval, stretches per prompt, daily target, awake/asleep state, dark mode preference
- Your progress — current streak, longest streak, freeze days available, today's completions and skips
None of this is sent to us, to any third party, or to any server. We don't have a server. Uninstalling the extension deletes it.
What DeskFriend does not do
- No account creation or sign-in
- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind
- No cookies
- No advertising
- No sale or sharing of data, because none is collected
- No remote code — everything the extension runs ships inside the extension package itself
Permissions
DeskFriend requests three Chrome permissions, each used only locally on your device:
- alarms — schedules the periodic reminder on the interval you choose.
- idle — checks whether you're active at your computer before deciding whether a reminder should take focus, so it doesn't interrupt a call or pile up reminders while you're away. This is read-only and never reported anywhere.
- storage — saves your settings and progress locally, as described above.
Changes to this policy
If this ever changes, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will change accordingly.
